A Comparison of Monolingual and Sequential Bilingual Tertiary Level Students on the Relationship Between Analytic Language Knowledge and Metalinguistic Awareness

Analytic language knowledge has often been highlighted among experts in the field, and its potential effects on metalinguistic awareness have of great interest to researchers. This study aims find relationship between analytic effect awareness. A total 210 tertiary level students from three different public universities Turkey participated study. The subjects were studying departments: History Philosophy (i.e., with no abilities monolinguals), Turkish Language Literature Turkish, their mother tongue, analytically English Teaching English, second language, sequential bilinguals). participants asked complete a demographic questionnaire test (adapted Ter Kuile et al., 2011) written Indonesian order evaluate awareness, results compared departments. data gathered through questionnaires analysed using IBM SPSS 22. show that performed significantly better than other two groups.
